Springsteen, Bon Jovi and Sting to Star in Hurricane Benefit Concert Friday

Superstar musicians born in the New York/New Jersey area will perform in Rockefeller Center Friday, part of a benefit concert for victims of Hurricane Sandy. New Jersey natives Bruce Springsteen and Jon Bon Jovi, along with Billy Joel from Long Island are joining Christina Aguilera, Sting and Jimmy Fallon for the show, to be broadcast on NBC at 8pm.

New York high school senior Samantha Garvey appeared Thursday as a guest on the Ellen talk show, where she received a $50,000 scholarship from AT&T to the college of her choice. Last week, Garvey was named a semifinalist in the prestigious Intel science contest, just weeks after her family was forced to move into a homeless shelter and attracted media attention.

GM CEO Auctions Off 1958 Corvette to Help Habitat for Humanity

Just 510 Chevy Corvettes painted in the the Royal Turquoise hue were manufactured in 1958 and it was Dan Akerson's childhood dream to own one. Today Akerson is the Chairman and CEO of General Motors -- which owns Chevrolet, still the maker of the Corvette. On Friday the CEO placed his beloved mint 1958 turquoise convertible on the auction block so he could give all the proceeds to Detroit's Habitat for Humanity.
