The largest gift ever to a private conservation group was pledged to Conservation International by Intel Corp. cofounder Gordon Moore, 72, and his wife. $261 million was designated to help end plant and animal extinction in the world's 25 "hotspots" and to protect tropical rainforest areas in Amazonia, New Guinea and the Congo.
