High school basketball player Landus Anderson is one of the top players in the state of Florida averaging an impressive 19 points-per-game. And he does it all with the use of only one arm. His parents placed a basketball in his hand when he was only three, and saw the determination that would show up in all areas of his life -- academics, community service, and sports.

What's Good In the Hood: Teens Start Good News Paper, Thwarting City's Image as "Godforsaken"

Since Boston Magazine published an article naming Lawrence, Massachusetts the City of the Dammed" and calling the residents godforsaken, an outraged community has been working to prove there are more positive things in the city than the label Nation's Stolen Car Capital would suggest. Taking matters into their own hands, a group of high school students have printed five issues of a newsletter, called What's Good In the Hood?, hand-delivering the positive news stories around town.

Teen Collects Books in French for her Second Goodwill Mission to Haiti

Giselle Osborn was among a handful of youth chosen to travel to Haiti this past August as part of a delegation to build eco-friendly homes. Working side-by-side with the local villagers, they not only had to contend with oppressive heat, humidity and mosquitoes, but also the torrential rains of Hurricane Irene. Despite the miserable conditions, the Georgia teen is headed back again in mid-January to help a group of girls orphaned by the catastrophic earthquake of 2010.

Young Baseball Fan's Act of Generosity Caught on TV

TV cameras were focused on two boys who tried to catch the same ball at an Arizona Diamondbacks game. The gesture of kindness displayed afterward surprised the broadcast announcers in the booth. The boy's generosity was paid back tenfold, as the baseball club rewarded him for his good deed.

School Wins $100,000 for Recycling

A small Catholic school was presented with a check for one hundred thousand dollars during an an unforgettable assembly celebrating recycling. The 150 students at St. Pascal School performed beyond expectations collecting more than 300,000 containers of recyclables during a 3 month period. They beat out every other school in the country to win the title and generous check.

7 Year-old Wins 'Doodle For Google' Contest

Forty finalists were chosen in the 'Doodle 4 Google' contest from more than 107,000 entries, and when public voting concluded, a 7-year-old took home the top prize with his drawing, 'Space Life'.

Incarcerated Teens Build Solar Boat, Learning Life Lessons

A math and social studies teacher at Camp David Gonzales, a juvenile probation camp in California, worked tirelessly with a group of incarcerated young men to turn a kit of wooden planks into a solar-powered boat, able to compete against vessels built by high school students from across Southern California.

Teens Use Social Networking To Reunite Pair of Holocaust Survivors

While most students learn about Nazi Germany through books and movies, Naperville, Ill. middle schoolers have done real detective work to reunite two Holocaust survivors after 73 years. Madison Junior High eighth graders used Google, Facebook and databases of newspapers to bring together Edith Westerfeld of Skokie, Ill. and Gerda Katz of Seattle.
