Spontaneous Praise Breaks Out for WWII Vet During 8K Race

A 95-year-old veteran in full dress uniform came outside on the street to encourage and cheer runners in an 8K race but the admiration was turned on himself when the athletes began spontaneously shaking his hand in a tribute for his military service. A San Jose reporter happened to capture the scene on video as Joe Bell became inundated with runners wanting to shake his hand.

Coast Guard Rescues 14 At Sea After Ship Sinks

The Coast Guard rescued 14 people adrift in life rafts in the Atlantic Ocean approximately 90 miles off the coast of Hatteras, N.C. on Monday morning, following the sinking of their ship in 40 mile-per-hour winds. The heroic Coast Guard effort involved helicopters, baskets and swimmers in the midst of some 18-ft swells.

Texas Olive Garden Pays Couple's Tab Before Soldier Deploys

It had been a normal Sunday night for Dawn Ward, a waitress at the Olive Garden restaurant in Lubbock, Texas. Then, a married couple were seated and Ward thought they deserved ultra-generous care. They said they had a special event happening and they wanted to spend it here at Olive Garden, Ward said. And so I inquired what it was and they said that he was going to be deployed the next morning.

Store Manager Gives Man a Trailer After Fire Destroys Home

William Berkshire lost his home and everything in it after his travel trailer went up in flames outside of Roy's General Store in Traverse City, Michigan. The store's manager felt so bad for the now homeless guy known as Mountain Man, he gave him a rarely used camper trailer so he would have somewhere to live. Hentschel posted the news on the store's Facebook Page and asked others to help too. Within two days, Mountain Man had clothes, bedding and boots and dishes. American Waste also donated a dumpster for him to use as he cleans up the rubble.

Cop Gives Out Ticket Wrapped in $100 Bill to Broke Motorist

A policeman pulled over Hayden Carlo, 25, in Plano, Texas for an expired registration sticker. Carlo said he's been struggling to support his wife and two small children and had to choose between registration for his car and food for his children. The officer handed him a citation but when Carlo opened it, he broke down in tears.
