Chicago Church Members Given Cash to Spread Around for City in Need

The Rev. Jackson Crum told members of his Chicago Park Community Church this month that their great city is struggling and needs hope. As ushers distributed envelopes stuffed with bills large and small, Crum told members of his flock to put the nearly $12,000 to work in the corners of the community where they think it will do the most good.

Interfaith Churches Convince Banks to Give $30 Million to Help Foreclosed Families

An interfaith group in Virginia has shown what a grassroots group can do when working together for positive change -- in this case, help for some of the 20,000 families who lost homes in the 2008 foreclosure crisis. VOICE (Virginians Organized For Interfaith Community Engagement) managed to get pledges of $30 million from Bank of America, General Electric and the Virginia Housing Development Authority to help such families in Manassas and Prince William County.

Mormons Skip Church for Weeks to Volunteer for Families Flooded by Sandy

Thousands of members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints volunteered for weeks following Hurricane Sandy, assisting the devastated families in digging out their flooded homes. A beautiful video was made on November 11th, when thousands of these church members cancelled their Sunday services and arrived by air, bus and train from all across the country to help.
