WATCH: Emotional Reunion for Family Dog Found Alive Years Later
For years, a military family believed their dog, Zeus, had died while they were away overseas. Watch their joy as they were reunited years later.

For years, the Harworth family of Lacey, Washington believed that their dog, Zeus, had died while they were away overseas.

Imagine their surprise when the military family's microchip company called and told them that Zeus was actually roaming the streets of Raleigh, North Carolina, and had been found—very much alive—by a good samaritan.

"There are simply no words to describe what we felt when we got that phone call. We were in complete disbelief. Once that brief second had passed, we were all crying," said Melody Harworth. "We were frantic with excitement and gratitude."

Banfield Pet Hospital made special arrangements to transport Zeus back to Washington on Friday, and his journey was documented on social media under the tag #GetZeusHome.

Check Your Chip Day was Saturday, August 15th, but it's never too late for families to update their contact information through a microchip company just in case they need to be reunited with a lost pet.
