Golden Hill Farm owners Carol Hopkinson and Karl Wragg created the underground hobbit hole with green, round, porthole doors, stained glass windows, and grass grassy roofs. It sleeps six and features a fenced garden with views across open countryside to the sea.
The Potts Corner cottage includes cooking facilities, a log burner, and beds equipped with luxury organic wool mattresses. It'll run you £650 for three nights or £850 for seven nights.
The couple is already employing four apprentice hobbits to help run the growing business on their six-acre farm in Liverton. They plan to transform their land by recreating the fabled Hobbiton setting, a first on UK soil, building more Hobbit-holes this year.
Guests can also take a short drive to the coast where villages such as Staithes and Runswick Bay offer fossil hunting and foreshore foraging, art galleries, and Bram Stoker's Whitby, the place where he became inspired to write Dracula.
