Declaring that they will only rely only on animal and farm waste to fertilize crops, Bhutan intends to become the first country to produce exclusively organic food. Banning the sale of pesticides and herbicides within its borders, Bhutan is largely organic already.

Bhutan plans to become the first country in the world to turn its agriculture completely organic, banning the sales of pesticides and herbicides and relying on its own animals and farm waste for fertilizers.

The reason for the pesticide ban within its borders is largely practical, according to Bhutan's minister of agriculture and forests.
