Atop a 17-story building in Manhattan lies a hidden sanctuary of sorts – a green space about the size of five football fields to harbor wildlife, save energy, and divert storm runoff.

What was once the biggest bird-killer in the city was transformed into a lush habitat–transparent glass into inviting greenery.

Susan Elbin, head of the New York City Audubon Society, visited the landmark with a CBS news crew, saying, "I feel like I am in a meadow somewhere."
