They came on their motor scooters by the hundreds. The community of Contamana - a remote town in eastern Peru - came out in force on Wednesday when their local airstrip needed lighting for an emergency medical night-flight.

The residents lined their vehicles up alongside the tarmac allowing a charter plane carrying three patients to take off.
