Woman Decides to Keep Tiny Pet That She Found in Her Salad
What would you do if you found this little critter hiding in your salad greens?
This 2-year-old pup does not care how small an animal is – she is determined to save every single one of them.
Whenever Holliday the German shepherd/border collie mix goes on a walk with her owner Caitlyn Beebe, she makes sure to rescue all of the earthworms that are stranded on the hot dry pavement.
"She gently picks them up in her mouth and then carries them over to the grass," says Beebe.
Beebe, who adopted Holliday from the Felines and Canines Animal Shelter in Chicago, says that she is not sure where the hound picked up the peculiar habit, but she thinks her mother must have been the catalyst.
"When she was a puppy, my mom would take the earth worms from the road and throw them in the grass. The only way I can think that Holliday learned this behavior, is from watching my mom when we came home for the weekends."
Beebe recently recorded her dog's life-saving behavior, and she says that she is delighted to share Holliday's story in hopes that it will inspire others to show the same amount of compassion to creatures large and small.
