Carol Sutor of Bristol, Pa., was in that situation on Thursday and decided to return the money to the family of the woman who had spent years saving it.

Carol Sutor of Bristol, Pa., was in that situation on Thursday and decided to return the money to the family of the woman who had spent years saving it.

"I had to give it back," she said. "I believe in karma, whatever I do will come back to me, good or bad."

That theory on karma was proven true recently after the homeless man returned the diamond ring instead of pawning it for $4,000. The woman was so happy to get it back, her husband set up a fund-raising page for the man, and collected more than $108,000 in donations — much better than the $4,000 he would have received for his dishonesty.
