With Thanksgiving right around the corner, families are getting ready to gobble up turkey, cranberry sauce, and mashed potatoes.

But thanks to a big happy green guy, 2,000 seniors who are unable to leave their homes will be enjoying another famous staple in the American tradition— a green bean casserole that just broke a world record.

The whopping 637-pound dish required 780 cans of Green Giant green beans, 53 cans of mushroom soup, 32 quarts of milk and 65 pounds of French fried onions.

Upon breaking the record, the casserole was donated to Citymeals on Wheels – a New York City-based nonprofit that delivers over 2 million meals to homebound seniors.

According to the company, they wanted to mark their first ever appearance in this year's 91st annual Macy's Day Parade.

Green Giant vice president Jordan Greenberg says, "We wanted to celebrate our inaugural year in the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade by baking up some excitement while helping so many people in this incredible city."
