Working Class Fighter Gives Winnings to Opponent in Need
John Castaneda didn't have to take the fight against Angel Cruz – and considering his victory, he didn't have to give his winnings away either.
A young baseball fan won the approval of the stadium when she scored big with a foul ball that landed in her beer.
23-year-old Gabrielle DiMarco was watching the San Diego Padres play against the Atlanta Braves last Tuesday at the PetCo Park in San Diego, California when a ball was smacked into the stands.
At first, she thought that the ball had landed in the row behind her - but then she realized that the pitch had bounced off of one of the chairs and plopped directly into her cup of beer.
"I felt like I won the lottery," DiMarco told The San Diego Union-Tribune. "I was like, 'What are the chances?' I wasn't even trying to catch this ball and it landed in my cup."
As the stadium cheered for her lucky catch, some of the spectators started chanting for her to drink. Not to disappoint her new fans, DiMarco then proceeded to down the lucky baseball beer in one go - and the crowd went wild.
"So many people were cheering, 'Chug!' I was like, 'absolutely I will chug this beer, are you kidding me?' " DiMarco said.
The Padres later bragged about their fan's epic display of sportsmanship on their Twitter page, which quickly spurred a number of cheeky marriage proposals from social media users who were impressed by DiMarco's skills.
Because even though the ball was originally hit by Braves outfielder Ender Inciarte, it's easy to tell that DiMarco had the best play in the game.
