Fossil Found by Kids in New Zealand Turns Out to Be 27 Million-Year-old Giant Penguin
A fossilized penguin was found by kids in 2006 in New Zealand, which has now gone on to be a new species, uniting the giant penguin genus.
A newly-discovered dinosaur species has been named after the little girl, Daisy Morris, who stumbled across its remains in 2008 when she was just five years old.
Paleontologists announced this week that fossilized remains found on an Isle of Wight beach had been finally identified as a new species of flying dinosaur — and has been named, Daisymorrisa.
Officially, Vectidraco Daisymorrisae.
The girl, now nine, is a natural history enthusiast, fascinated by animals and dinosaurs.
