The largest tribute gala to date for MusiCares, the night featured a slew of A-list stars performing Neil Young classics, including Dave Matthews, Jack Black, Jackson Browne, Crosby, Stills & Nash, Elton John, Josh Groban, Norah Jones, Red Hot Chili Peppers and James Taylor, a former recipient of the award. Over its 20 year history, the MusiCares event has always attracted the brightest stars in the music business, held as it is, two nights before the Grammys. Through silent auction and dinner tickets, the group raised $4 million to provide essential support for music people ensuring they have a place to turn to in times of financial, medical and personal need.
