Chicago Kids Nix Celebrity Bar Mitzvahs, Use Money to Build Playground
Instead of a huge bash, two Jewish 12-year-olds in Chicago are planning their Bar Mitzvahs around designing and building a playground for the public.
Since these middle schoolers have been sent home during the coronavirus shutdowns, they decided to lift each other's spirits by having some virtual fun.

At Gotha Middle School, we create weekly music videos for fun. Obviously we can't do them together anymore — and many of the 8th graders have been heartbroken.
So we created a VIRTUAL music video with 8th graders who sent in videos of themselves dancing and singing (and sanitizing) at home.
And the song choice was perfect: "What doesn't kill you makes you stronger."
