Fearless Transit Rider Praised for 'Incredible Display of Humanity'
When other people kept their distance from a man in distress, this woman reached out and touched him.

When other riders on the train moved away from a man in mental distress, a 70-year-old woman took his hand.

The random act of kindness by the older woman was enough to calm the young man who had been cursing and moving erratically.

Ehab Taha, a passenger on the Vancouver, British Columbia Skytrain at the time, snapped a photo and posted it on Facebook. He said the man sat with the woman who tightly gripped his hand until he started to cry.

The woman's actions not only calmed the fitful young man, but also reassured the train's other passengers.

"I'm a mother and he needed someone to touch," the unidentified woman told Taha before starting to cry herself.
