NFL Star Ditched $Million Contract to Farm Crops For The Needy
Even though he was walking away from fame and fortune, he knew he had a new passion to work towards – farming food for the hungry.

Even though this ex-football star was making millions, the athletic field wasn't nearly as fulfilling as the field he is tending now.

When Jason Brown was signed to the St. Louis Rams in 2009, he was the highest paid center in the entire National Football League.

But something about the fame and fortune didn't quite appeal to the sports star anymore. So after earning $25 million of his contract, he ditched the profession so he could become a farmer in Louisburg, North Carolina, and live a life of service to the community.

Even though he didn't know the first thing about agriculture, he learned how to till, plant, and harvest on his 1,000 acres by watching Youtube videos.

Jason's labor of love doesn't end there. His land, known as First Fruits Farm, has made it their goal to donate the first fruits of every harvest to food pantries feeding the less fortunate.
