After nearly becoming extinct in North America due to pesticides, the fastest species on earth is rebounding, thanks to humans and modern skyscrapers.
"Nobody knows the Connecticut River better than Jim Dietz, a three-time Olympic rower and two-time Olympic coach who built the University of Massachusetts women's crew team into an East Coast powerhouse."
"Once swollen with sewerage and industrial waste, the river has improved steadily over the past two decades, making it far more suitable for rowing, Dietz stated. Currently, 10 school or club rowing programs use the river, reflecting its sharply reduced level of pollution."
