450 Years Old: Why Shakespeare Lives On
The question might come up this month, as we reach the 450th anniversary of the Bard of Avon's birth, What's so great about William Shakespeare anyway? The answer is simple. Everything.
Bruce Springsteen's Brooklyn audience was blessed last Thursday by a tribute performance to the musical genius of Prince– a moving rendition of his 1984 hit "Purple Rain".
The Boss solemnly played for the pop icon under moody purple lighting, as the Barclay Center audience joined in to sing along.
Prince passed away on April 21st at the age of 57 at his Minneapolis, Minnesota compound after suffering flu-like symptoms the previous weeks. Many musicians and TV shows have paid tribute to the artist since his death, including a revival-inspired performance on Broadway by Jennifer Hudson and her cast from The Color Purple—but Springsteen's mournful voice made this one of the most memorable.
