Thousands of Volunteers Offer to Clean Up Baltimore After Riots
Armed with brooms and trash bags, volunteers hit the streets of Baltimore to clean up after rioters left shops damaged and debris in the streets.
Baltimore's Inner Harbor is a city landmark teeming with tourists, restaurants and — until recently — floating trash. A citizen who walked by every day and saw floating trash in the water came up with an ingenious solution -- and the city agreed.

John Kellett walked by every day on his way to work and notice the trash floating in the water. He often heard tourists call the harbor disgusting — and it bugged him.
"That's when he developed his idea: a big water wheel to collect the plastic cups, cigarette butts and Cheetos bags. Kellett approached Baltimore officials about ways to remove the trash — and they listened. The water wheel is now docked in the harbor."
