This Ohio army recruiter wasn't about to stand by while families in Texas suffered from the aftermath of the hurricane.

Army Sgt. Sutton, members of Shoes 4 the Shoeless, and a team of seven embarked on a mission to help the people of the Port Arthur and Beaumont, Texas after Hurricane Harvey wreaked havoc on their communities.

The team left Dayton, Ohio with two 26-foot trucks loaded with over 1,000 pairs of shoes, 10,000 pairs of socks and numerous other much-needed supplies. Over 1,000 miles later, the team landed in Port Arthur and immediately went to work unloading the truck full of supplies for the next day's distribution.

That day brought so many smiles and tears at the same time, Army Sgt. Sutton an uplifting song and music of encouragement for his team's hard work.

"The relationships made, even during a time of turmoil and chaos, are more than words can even express," Sutton told Good News Network. "The group, who had only met each other one week prior to this mission, worked like a team that had been together for decades. Their mission was to help as many people as possible while bringing smiles and love to everyone they met."
