In the aftermath of Superstorm Sandy, many Connecticut residents continue to struggle to recover their livelihoods and to provide nutritious food, safe shelter, transportation, clothing, and medical supplies for their families.
A philanthropic family from Northwest Connecticut, who wishes to remain anonymous, has stepped in to help. The family has notified the Community Foundation of Northwest Connecticut that it is providing $50,000 to assist individuals and families still struggling to recover from the storm. And, they might give more, if needed.
"The Local Area Fund is a great example of the positive impact of local philanthropy," said Guy Rovezzi, President of The Community Foundation of Northwest Connecticut. "Many nonprofits supporting our community could not exist without the generosity of Litchfield county fundholders and donors like those who established the Local Area Fund.
The Community Foundation of Northwest Connecticut serves Litchfield County with a collection of more than 250 funds from local donors. These funds support nonprofit organizations and provide scholarships to area students throughout Northwest Connecticut.
