House Cleaner Wins at Sundance for DIY Film

A house cleaning drop-out, Jon Foy, won the directorial award at the Sundance Film Festival for his homemade documentary, Resurrect Dead: The Mystery of the Toynbee Tiles. During the 5 year odyssey of making his film, he learned how to write, shoot, and edit, mostly in the bedroom of a shared group house in West Philadelphia.

Oscars to Celebrate Heroes at This Year's Ceremony

The 86th Academy Awards will be a celebration of movie heroes, the producers announced this week. The theme for the March 2 live broadcast, hosted by Ellen DeGeneres, will honor big-screen real-life heroes, like "Gandhi" and "Erin Brockovich," as well as super heroes and animated heroes, both past and present.

Alaska Inmates Find Identity in Orchestra

After serving a 14-year sentence for murder, no one would have expected Sarah Jane Coffman to go anywhere near the Hiland Mountain Correctional Center once she was released. But every Saturday she makes the 10-mile drive with a viola in tow for orchestra practice at the prison just north of Anchorage. Coffman is a founding member of the women's string orchestra at the prison, playing since 2003.

Woman Recreates 'The Last Supper' in Laundry Lint

Using only dryer lint, Laura Bell of Roscommon, Michigan created a 14-foot replica of Leonardo da Vinci's Last Supper. She spent seven months doing 800 hours of laundry to get the lint she needed, buying towels of varying colors to supply the right tint.
